TechnologyYou can't have the right solution using the wrong technology. Whether or not a technology is "state of the art" doesn't necessarily mean that it is or isn't appropriate. Employing the right technology means a feasible and cost-effective solution that is viable over the long-term. Any system that is considered a significant expenditure should be subject to at least a small technology evaluation. Sometimes this can be provided by the vendor as part of the vendor proposal process, and should then also be subject to independent review. No matter who performs the evaluation, it will require a good understanding of what is expected from the system now, and what will also be expected of the system in the future.
