Physical Security Planning and System Design
How much security and what type of security do you need? The most effective approach is almost always a combination of
physical security measures, operational security measures,
and education to develop an appropriate security attitude for facility personnel. That's
why the System Design step should follow the Security Planning step. When
are Plans and Designs Good Enough?
How can you tell when your security plans and system designs are good enough
to take action on? If you don't have an answer to that question, don't you
need to consult professionals who do? When you do consult them, shouldn't
they be able to explain clearly to you how they answer that question for
your facility? Shouldn't their answers be specific enough that your
confidence is based upon more than just good impressions? Shouldn't you
be given enough supporting material that you can make the case for the security
plans and designs yourself to your own management or peers? We think so.
Don't you? (For a little more information about evaluating security,

Access Control".) |
